You can register in those sites and you will surely have your own client in no time. Some of these web companies require fees, it is a good investment on your part if you can afford them. But there are others that offer their services for free if you do not have money to spare for these paid freelance work finder sites. Most of these sites however will take a percentage of your fee but that is very minimal.
You can also start your own web based company. For instance, you can offer accounting and bookkeeping services if you are an accountant. Or you can have your own company that offers web designs, SEOs and other web marketing services if you are a web designer. You can hire other freelancers on per project basis if you need the manpower. You will see that eventually you will have your own portfolio and client base and a booming business.
