When it comes to making sure that an office is being properly run both internally and represented externally, communication and PR may share some common ground that office workers and managers may not be aware of. Communication and PR are fundamentally tied in their ability to present the image of a cohesive office that can produce goods and services that the public may be interested in, as well as provide those goods and services once they have been requested. This may seem like a simple connection, but often times there can be a disconnect between communication and PR which you should be aware of in order to avoid any such situations.
One of the more common disconnects between communication and PR will involve promotions, either in the form of sales that have been advertised or in coupon offers. These discounts and promotions can offer a wonderful service towards PR efforts that your company may be engaged in, but it is important that they be well communicated throughout the office at all levels. This can be especially important to retailers who own multiple stores within a chain, as customers who learn of a promotion from one store will expect it to extend to a store that shares the same name. Part of being aware of the connection between communication and PR involves knowing that the customer will expect the same thing across the board, and that other customers whom the first refers will also expect the same level of treatment and standards. This means that it is important in regards to communication and PR that the right PR campaign be launched that the office is able to fulfill.
As an example of communication and pr efforts that can work in sync, offering a new idea or service to the public can be a great way for the front and back offices to work together. When a new product or service is launched, it is the job of the PR department to make sure that it will be desirable to the potential market. It is also the job of communication within the office to ensure that the product will be successfully produced, shipped, or displayed as per the agreement between different departments. In this case, the efforts between communication and PR can lead to a successful product launch that will enable future products to see just as much success.
